SALYERSVILLE – The Magoffin County Fiscal Court met in special session on June 3, holding the second reading of the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
In the brief Thursday afternoon meeting, the court approved the second reading of the 2021/2022 county budget, which had already been verified as meeting all the state’s standards from Frankfort, as well as approved the agreement with the Administrative Office of the Courts, providing the county a reimbursement of expenses for the justice center, which have been estimated at $264,400.
The court opted to decline the proposed earthquake insurance policy for 2022, with Magoffin County Judge/Executive Matt Wireman explaining that the Kentucky Association of Counties has now incorporated a pool for earthquake insurance for all Kentucky counties included in KACO, which will provide adequate coverage for Magoffin in the event of an earthquake and will save the county approximately $4,000.
The next regularly scheduled Magoffin County Fiscal Court meeting is tentatively slated for June 15 at 6:30 p.m.
