Juanita Shepherd Williamson, 82, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025. Born November 6, 1942, in Pyramid, Kentucky, near David in Floyd County, she was the daughter of Gold and Gracie Layne Shepherd. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Shepherd, Frank Shepherd, infant Eugene Shepherd, two sisters, Ethel Mullins and Helen Klingler, and one son, Billy Williamson, Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 61 years, Bill Williamson, Sr.; son, Michael (Kim) Williamson; and daughter, Lisa Williamson (Sandy) Gibbs; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Also surviving are four sisters, Mary M. Trimble of Salyersville, Kentucky; Caryol Allen of Eastern, KY; Lynn Fletcher of Gunlock, KY; and Anna Caldwell of Salyersville, KY; a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews; two sisters-in-law, Charity Shepherd of Gunlock, KY; and Lois Hatter of Falcon, KY; and caregiver, Jessica Oliver; all who love and miss her.
Juanita was a graduate of the Salyersville High School in Magoffin County. In 1964 she graduated from the Cumberland College and began teaching English and drama in West Van Lear in Johnson County. After moving to Morehead, she was a substitute teacher of the Rowan County School System.
Juanita was very talented and had many hobbies. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, machine quilting, string art and was an award-winning Artex paint saleslady. She also enjoyed canning her own vegetables and putting up jams and jellies.
Funeral services for Juanita Shepherd Williamson were held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 12 p.m. at the Owingsville Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop John Nelson officiating. Internment followed at the New Alfrey Cemetery in Morehead, KY.
