Basel Hall

Basel Hall, 71, of Salyersville, KY, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024, in his home surrounded by loved ones from a long battle with cancer. Born on April 19, 1953, to Junior and Onie Phipps Hall, (whom both proceeded him in death). Basel dedicated much of his life to working as a foreman in the strip mining industry.

Basel shared a loving partnership with Mary Jenkins for 27 wonderful years.

He was a devoted father to Heather Renee Cheesman and her husband, Rick, of Florida, and Basil Neil Hall and his wife, Brittney, of Kentucky. He also cherished his role as honorary father to Shawn Castle and Mark Castle (who preceded him in death).

As a proud grandfather, he is remembered by seven grandchildren: Zack (Madison) Barett of Texas, Gavin Arnett, Bryson Arnett, Tenisha Castle, Cayman Hall, Braylee Cheek, and Ryder Hall, all from Kentucky. He was also a great-grandfather to two beautiful girls, Rowan and Maeve.

Basel is survived by his sister Connie Gamble, brothers Berlin and Happy Hall, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, and honorary son Mark, Basel is preceded in death by four brothers, Darrell Hall, Virgil Hall, Ray Hall, Benny Hall, and one sister, Shirley Gay Perry.

Basel’s warm spirit and dedication to his family and friends will be deeply missed.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with Dennis Marshall officiating. Burial followed in the Lacy Creek Cemetery, Lacy Creek Road, Kentucky.
