LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky Blood Center is urging Kentuckians to add consistent blood donation to their 2025 New Year’s resolutions. Donors have the perfect opportunity to start the year right by giving blood at this upcoming drive.
Those who give a few drops of blood at this drive will receive a “Drop It Like It’s Hot” KBC sweatshirt (while supplies last) as a thank you for saving local lives.

The need for blood is amplified during the winter months. Weather-related cancellations and an uptick in illnesses can hamper collections. Proactive blood donation ensures a healthy blood supply for local patients at KBC’s 70-plus hospitals.
Blood donated at KBC stays local to aid patients for a wide range of treatments, including cancer, trauma, sickle cell, organ transplant, surgeries and more.
Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.
Appointments are preferred but walk-ins are welcome. To schedule a donation, visit kybloodcenter.org or call 800.775.2522.
