SALYERSVILLE – A candidate in the local county clerks race officially has withdrawn from upcoming election, though his name will still appear on the ballot.
Magoffin County Clerk Renee Shepherd announced on Tuesday this week that Justin Williams had withdrawn as the Republican candidate in the Magoffin County court clerk race due to Williams taking a merit position.
Since the ballots are already set for the Primary Election, Williams’ name will still appear on the ballot, but all votes cast for him will not be counted.
Similarly, last month the SI reported that Sam Bailey Jr. and Timmy Salyer had also withdrawn from their respective races, as well, with their names also already on the ballot ahead of the May 19 Primary Election, but no votes cast for them will be counted in the election totals.
The last day to register to vote in the primary is April 20.
