SALYERSVILLE – The Salyersville City Council met briefly on Wednesday, April 1, passing a budget amendment and discussing the status of the sewer projects.
A representative with Big Sandy Area Development District told the council they have now received the grant agreement from the Department of Local Government, showing the city is now in compliance with the 2023 audit. The council agreed to let the mayor sign the grant agreement, which is for $1,250,000 and itemized for sewer repairs, including replacing broken grinder pumps and lift station repair. Summit Engineering is working on the contract documents, and when those are completed, they will be able to advertise the project for bids. They estimated the project will be ready for advertising in the next couple of weeks.
The council held the second reading of an ordinance amending the budget for the current fiscal year, including the grant money for the sewer projects. In a roll call vote, the budget amendment passed unanimously, with the ordinance publishing on page B5 of this issue of the SI.
They also considered a resolution for a Municipal Aid Co-op Program Contract with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, which also passed unanimously. Mayor Stanley Howard said they enter that agreement every year.
Councilmen Darrell Arnett and Paul Montgomery were unable to attend the special meeting held on April 1.
The next regularly scheduled Salyersville City Council meeting is tentatively set for Monday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Salyersville City Hall.
