SALYERSVILLE – A Magoffin County man was arrested last Friday on an indictment warrant issued last year regarding charges sex-related crimes involving children.
Court records indicate that Cory Slusher, 28, of Half Mountain Road, Salyersville, was indicted by a Magoffin County grand jury on August 15, 2024, on the charges of procure or promote use of minor by electronic means (Class C felony) and distribution of obscene matters to minors, first offense (Class A misdemeanor).
According to the indictment, on or about May 6 through August 8, 2024, Slusher allegedly procured or promoted the use of a minor by using a communications system or other electronic means and, knowing a person to be a minor, and knowing the content of the materials, knowingly sent, exhibited, distributed or offered to distribute obscene material to a minor.
The witness on the indictment was a federal official, and federal officials assisted local law enforcement in Slusher’s arrest this past Friday.
Authorities had been trying to serve Slusher with the arrest warrant since the indictment was handed down last August, making several attempts to do so, but the Magoffin County Sheriff Department (MCSD) had received information alluding to the fact that Slusher was aware he was being sought and was trying to avoid apprehension by staying in a small town in Ohio. MCSD asked the Clint U.S. Marshals to assist with the initial arrest of Slusher in Ohio, who was taken to the Clinton County Jail, in Wilmington, OH, and it was there that members of the MCSD went and brought him back to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, where he remains at this time.
Slusher is set to be arraigned today at 10 a.m. at the Magoffin County Justice Center.
