SALYERSVILLE – Magoffin County Grand Jury indictments against the following defendants were released this week as each of them were served with warrants:
Paul Edward Varney, 47, of Prestonsburg, was indicted on April 18, 2024, on the charge of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense, methamphetamine (Class D felony). According tot he indictment, on or about April 3, 2023, Varney allegedly possessed a quantity of methampheta
Robert W. Miller, 37, of Meadows Branch Road, in Salyersville, was charged in two separate indictments on May 16, 2024, including possession of a handgun by a convicted felon (Class C felony); first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, greater than or equal to two grams of methamphetamine (Class C felony); and first-degree fleeing and evading police on foot (Class D felony). According to the indictments, on or about February 6, 2022, Miller alleged possessed a quantity of methamphetamine with the intent to manufacture, distribute or sell, as well possessed a handgun while having been previously convicted of a felony and attempted to elude police by running away on foot while being told to stop.
Vanessa N. Stacy, 46, of Talcum, KY, was indicted on August 15, 2024, and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense, methamphetamine (Class D felony); tampering with physical evidence (Class D felony); possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor); and possession of marijuana (Class B misdemeanor). According to the indictment, on or about March 7, 2024, possessed a quantity of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, as well as attempted to destroy, conceal, remove, mutilate, or alter physical evidence which she believed was about to be produced or used in an official proceeding.
Matthew Carr, 36, of Merlin Taulbee Road, in Salyersville, was indicted on November 7, 2024, and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense, methamphetamine (Class D felony). According tot the indictment, on or about March 12, 2024, Carr allegedly possessed a quantity of methamphetamine.
All four defendants served with indictment warrants this past week are scheduled for arraignment hearings on February 6 at 10 a.m. at the Magoffin County Justice Center.
