Grand jury releases indictments

SALYERSVILLE – A Magoffin County grand jury released the following indictments on November 7:

Clifton Barker, 37, of Litteral Fork Road, in Salyersville, is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, second offense, methamphetamine (Class D felony); and possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor). According to the indictment, on or about September 10, 2024, Barker allegedly possessed a quantity of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Heather N. McKinney, 37, of Middle Fork Road, in Salyersville, is charged with first-degree possession in a controlled substance, first offense, fentanyl (Class D felony); first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense, methamphetamine (Class D felony); tampering with physical evidence (Class D felony); failure to register transfer of a motor vehicle (Class A misdemeanor); possession in a controlled substance (Class A misdemeanor); possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor); and license to be in possession (Class B misdemeanor). According to the indictment, on or about August 26, 2024, McKinney allegedly possessed quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine, a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. She also allegedly attempted to destroy, mutilate, conceal, or alter physical evidence which she believed was about to be used for official court proceedings.

Kendra Carty, 43, of Half Mountain Road, in Salyersville, is charged with third-degree assault of a police officer (Class D felony). According to the indictment, on or about October 8, 2023, Carty allegedly recklessly or attempted to cause serious physical injury to a police officer, Officer Carl Smith, with the Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Warrants were issued for each of the defendants indicted last Thursday.

Indictments are only being released to the public at this time when the defendants have been served, either with a warrant or court summons.
