SALYERSVILLE – A Magoffin County man was sentenced to 5 years in prison for the charge of procure or promote use of minor by electronic means (Class C felony).
Cory Slusher, 29, of Half Mountain Road, in Salyersville, changed his plea to guilty in January via a plea agreement between himself, represented by Jeff Lovely, and the Commonwealth, represented by Assistant Commonwealth Attorney Cameron Adams.
On March 19, Slusher appeared in court for sentencing, with Magoffin County Circuit Judge Kimberley Childers, having given due consideration to the Pre-Sentence Investigation prepared by the Division of Probation and Parole, and the nature of the crime, as well as the history, character and condition of Slusher, found there was a likelihood that during a period of probation or conditional discharge Slusher will commit another crime, and he needs correctional treatment provided most effectively at a correctional institution. Childers also noted in her judgment that probation or conditional discharge would unduly depreciate the seriousness of Slusher’s crime.
Childers found Slusher guilty of procuring or promoting the use of a minor by electronic means, a Class C felony, and sentenced him to 5 years in prison. His second charge was dismissed with prejudice, per the plea agreement, and Slusher is to have no contact with the victim. He is also to submit to a 20-year Sexual Offender Registration, enroll and complete a sex offender treatment program and fall all recommendations and 5 years conditional discharge upon release. Slusher is also to pay court costs of $130 within 6 months of his release from prison.
According to the indictment and the charge he pleaded guilty to, on or about May 6 through August 8, 2024, Slusher procured or promoted the use of a minor by using a communications system or other electronic means and, knowing a person to be a minor.
Slusher has been held at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center since arrest in May 2025, where he remains at press time.
