SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County was well-represented at the latest University of Pikeville Football Prospect Camp.
The University of Pikeville Football Prospect Camp was held at the Hambley Athletic Complex on Friday, June 20 and featured players from numerous high schools. Standouts from multiple states competed during the University of Pikeville Football Prospect Camp.
Earlier in the month, several Magoffin County players attended another camp at Morehead State University.
“We got our guys on campus at both Morehead State University and UPike.” said Magoffin County Coach John DeRossett. “I think it’s good to get out and compete and show the fruits of your labor in the offseason. Like we do every year, we had high standards for our offseason program and those that participated showed great increases in strength, speed and agility. We compete in a tough district and region, so if we don’t train hard, we will find it difficult to compete with many of the top-ranked teams in Class 3A.”
Many Magoffin County players excelled during the University of Pikeville Football Prospect Camp.
The Hornets are currently sidelined via the KHSAA Dead Period, which will continue through Wednesday, July 9. Magoffin County will open preseason practice on Thursday, July 10.
