A Magoffin County home was destroyed in a fire over the weekend.
Magoffin County Judge-Executive Matt Wireman told Mortimer Media Group that he had talked directly to the family, identified as James and Joyce Davis, who lived on Grape Greek in the White Oak area. They told the judge their residence caught fire over the weekend, with the cause unknown at press time. The couple, along with their son who has health issues and lives with them, were able to get out of the home safely, though Joyce reportedly went back into the burning home to get her purse, sustaining some injuries from that.
The family lost everything except for the clothes on their backs and the purse, and people are encouraged to call the judge’s office at 349-2313, if they would like to help or donate to the family.
