SALYERSVILLE – A Magoffin County grand jury handed down the following indictments, which were only released this week after the defendants were served in their respective cases:
Jeremiah D. Crowder, 42, of Charleston, West Virginia, is charged with theft by deception including cold checks, $1,000<$10,000 (Class D felony); second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument (Class D felony); and second-degree forgery (Class D felony). According to the indictment, on or about May 14, 2025, Crowder allegedly obtained a check in the amount of $3,792.18 with the intent to deprive the person thereof, namely, Salyersville National Bank, by intentionally creating or reinforcing a false impression as to his intention. He reportedly possessed a forged check, and also allegedly falsely made, completed or altered a written instrument officially issued or created by the Elk Village Apartment, Ltd.
Kristina M. Vanhoose, 43, of Prestonsburg, is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense, drug unspecified (Class D felony); tampering with physical evidence (Class D felony); possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor); driving DUI suspended license, second offense (Class A misdemeanor); and operating a motor vehicle/motorcycle without a functioning ignition interlock device (Class A misdemeanor). According to the indictment, on or about September 6, 2025, Vanhoose allegedly possessed a quantity of metonitazene, a Schedule I narcotic; as well as drug paraphernalia. Vanhoose is accused of tampering with physical evidence and operating a motor vehicle while her license was suspended for at least one previous conviction for driving under the influence. The motor vehicle also reportedly did not have a functioning ignition interlock device.
Mary Collinsworth, 48, of Coon Creek, in Salyersville, is charged with aggravated trafficking in a controlled substance, greater than or equal to 28 grams of fentanyl (Class B felony); first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense, drug unspecified (Class D felony); and possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor). According to the indictment, on or about February 20-21, 2025, Collinsworth allegedly possessed a quantity of fentanyl with the intent to distribute, as well as possessed a quantity of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Warrants were issued for all the defendants charged in the indictments that were released. Indictments are only released after the defendants are served in their cases.
