James “Traveling Wolf” Burkhart Jr., age 70, a resident of Gunlock, Kentucky; passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at his home peacefully.
Mr. Burkhart was born October 1, 1953 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania the son of late James Eugene and Esther Masteller Burkhart.
James served his country in the U.S. Marines and is a Veteran of the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged. “Traveling Wolf” is a member of the Haudenosaunee Native American Nation.
Those left to mourn includes wife, JoAnn Poklemba Burkhart of Gunlock, Kentucky, sons, Andrew James Burkhart of Mt. Carmel, Pennsylvania, Joshua Matthew Burkhart and wife Andrea of Osterburg, Pennsylvania, granddaughter, Jillian Burkhart of Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, a host of family and friends who love and miss him.
A Native American service honoring the life of James “Traveling Wolf” Burkhart Jr. will be conducted in Pennsylvania at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Salyersville Funeral Home in Salyersville, Kentucky.
