Man arrested in Salyersville on warrants from three other counties

SALYERSVILLE – A London, Kentucky, man was arrested in Salyersville this week on multiple out-of-county warrants after police received multiple complaints regarding the man.

On Wednesday, April 6, a Magoffin County Sheriff Department deputy picked up Deerrick Lamarah Hagans, age 32, of London, Kentucky, on Church Street in Salyersville on failure to appear charges out of Whitley, Pike and Perry counties.

According to the warrants, Hagans reportedly owed $323 in the 2019 Whitley County case in which he had been found guilty of third-degree criminal trespassing and possession of marijuana. He also reportedly failed to appear to a court hearing in the 2021 Pike County case, in which he is charged with third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.

He was also picked up on a 2022 indictment warrant from Perry County, in which he is charged with third-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief, with both of those charges classified as felonies. That indictment also stipulated he may post bail in the amount of $3,000 secured by cash, and that he is to stay out of the justice center except for court appearances.

At press time, Hagans is still being held at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, with an arraignment in Perry County felony case scheduled for July 7. According to court docket records, Hagans was scheduled to appear in court in Magoffin County on the day he was arrested for a show cause deferred/installment payment hearing for a harassment case from last year.

According to the original warrant, on September 27 through September 28, 2021, Hagans allegedly harassed employees at a local business, with one employee driving by and seeing him behind the store and calling to warn the on-duty employee. That employee reportedly went behind the business to investigate, finding Hagans standing against the building and singing loudly. Hagans allegedly walked quickly towards the employee, who ran back into the store and locked the door, but he followed her to the door and continued to scream and sing at the door.

Once locked out, he reportedly went through the trash. After that encounter, he was spotted outside the store on at least two other occasions, making employees afraid to come to work and be there alone, according to the warrant.

Hagans was also arrested on September 19, 2021, for allegedly harassing customers and loitering at VIP Fuels, and charged with public intoxication (excluding alcohol, possession of marijuana, and loitering.

Similarly, on September 5, 2021, he was arrested for allegedly loitering at a local restaurant, harassing employees, fourth-degree assault (no visible injury) for touching one of the employees, and public intoxication (excluding alcohol).
