SALYERSVILLE – A Magoffin County man was arrested for allegedly possessing material depicting sexual performance by a minor.
According to the arrest citation, Kentucky State Police Trooper Dials learned through an online internet Crimes Against Children investigation that someone was reportedly uploading material of child sexual abuse.
Through the investigation, the IP address was tracked down to a residence in Magoffin County on Rockhouse Fork Road. Police obtained a search warrant for the residence, and during the interview, the resident admitted to seeing the child abuse material in question.
Police also found related searches on the resident’s gaming device, according to the arrest citation.
The resident, identified as James L. Cole, 48, of Rockhouse Fork Road, in Salyersville, was arrested on Tuesday, January 17, and charged with eight counts of possessing matter portraying sexual performance by a minor under 12 years old.
At press time, Cole is being held at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
