Melvin Helton age 88 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at his home. He was born January 14, 1938 in Salyersville, Kentucky to the late Sedley and Essie Gamble Helton.
Survived by his wife, Maggie Conley Helton, six sons, Nathan (Tonja) Helton, David Helton, Steven Helton, Perry (Donna) Helton, Rondal (Emma) Helton, Kerry Dale (Kristy) Helton, five daughters. Laura Ruth Helton, Georgia (Terry) Frisby, Dorothy Taylor, Heather (Ray) Crum, Elizabeth (Doug) Harvey, one sister-in-law, Faye Helton, two brothers-in-law, Harold Mullins, Simon Conley, one hundred grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, Melvin is preceded in death by two sons, Mark Anthony Helton, Paul Douglas Helton, three brothers, Prater Helton, Rosco Helton, Veldon Helton, three sisters, Viosa Bussey, Clotteen Howard, Vera May Helton, one grandson, Braxton Helton, four sons -in-law, Lewis Helton, Don Cheek, Jimmy Taulbee, Drexel Salyers II, two daughters-in-law, Karen Helton, and Sherry Helton.
Melvin was a dedicated member of the Lakefront Church of God.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, January 23, 2026 from the Lakefront Church of God with Larry Patrick and Dwayne Gibson officiating. Burial followed in the Helton Cemetery at Mouth of Coon Creek, Salyersville, Kentucky.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
