Motion to dismiss case against Tackett’s wife

SALYERSVILLE – Following the jury trial and subsequent “not guilty” verdict for Matthew Tackett, the Commonwealth Attorney filed a motion last Thursday for the case against Tackett’s wife, Ashley to be dismissed.

Ashley Tackett is currently charged with complicity of first-degree sexual abuse, victim under 12 years of age (Class C felony) in a case that was connected to Matthew Tackett. His case was heard before a jury last week in Knott County and the jury inevitably found him not guilty after a short deliberation.

A hearing in Ashley Tackett’s case to consider the motion to dismiss will be held today, Thursday, April 24, at 1:30 p.m., in the Knott County Circuit Court before Judge Kim Childers.

Editor’s Note: The indictment or charge of a person by a grand jury or otherwise is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
