Nancy Audell Prater Bays age 88 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Salyersville Nursing and Rehab Center in Salyersville, Kentucky. She was born March 11, 1937 at Tip Top, Kentucky to the late Edward and Linda Smith Prater.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kethern Bays, two sons, Charles Edward “Charlie” Bays and James Bennard “JB” Bays, one daughter-in-law, Samantha Bays, one infant grandson, Charles Keith Bays, as well as two brothers, James Edward Prater, and infant brother, Bennard Prater, and two brothers-in-law, Orville Gene Risner, and Paul Rowe.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Carol (Jim) Binkowski, and Debbie Sue (Randall) Long both of Knox, Indiana, one daughter-in-law, Barbie Bays of Salyersville, Kentucky, eight grandchildren, “Joe” Joseph Keith (Stacy) Binkowski of Salyersville, Kentucky, “Jenny” Jennifer Lynn (John) Tow of Knox, Indiana, “Kim” Kimberly Ann Bays Helton (Eddie Francis) of Salyersville, Kentucky, Jason Keith (Kelly) Brewer of Knox Indiana, Rhonda Renea Bays of Salyersville, Kentucky, “Jimmy” James Robert Binkowski of Knox, Indiana, Craig Edward (Clarissa) Bays of West Liberty, Kentucky, and John Roman (Madison) Binkowski of Knox, Indiana. Nancy is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren and two sisters, Geraldine Prater Risner of Salyersville, Kentucky, and Kathy Prater Rowe of Knox, Indiana. She also leaves behind a countless number of nieces, nephews, other family and friends that will greatly miss her.
Nancy’s greatest love was her family. She was first and foremost a homemaker, as well as, a factory worker while living in Knox, Indiana, and later a bookkeeper for the family business, Bays Trucking, after moving back to Kentucky. She loved her years serving her beloved Burgett Community Church where she was baptized on September16, 1996 and served as treasurer for many years. She was also an active member of the Magoffin County Senior Citizens Center.
Funeral survives will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 18, 2025 from the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with Wayne Meade officiating. Nancy will be laid to rest at the Bays Cemetery on the family farm at Far Middle Fork in Salyersville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the funeral home Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M. and any time prior to funeral services.
