New playground at Ramey Park

Schematics from MAGOFFIN CO. JUDGE’s OFFICE The new playground at Ramey Memorial Park will be accessible for all, and is above the flood line, so it won’t be affected each year by the seasonal flooding at the park. The playground is expected to be finished by the beginning of April, weather-permitting.

SALYERSVILLE – A new playground is set to be completed soon at the Ramey Memorial Park, above the flood line and with state-of-the-art inclusive equipment.

Since Magoffin County Judge/Executive Matthew Wireman has been in office, he has overseen the appropriation of approximately $750,000 for the park, including new lights on the ballfields, the batting cage, a new shelter, the new veterans monument modifications and remodeling, and now this new playground, which will be accessible for all.

The new playground is an estimated $490,000 investment, paid for with coal severance funding.

The playground is scheduled to be installed by the end of this month, but the soft and safe surface may take a little longer, weather dependent. In order to make the two-day pour, nighttime temperatures have to be in the 50s, so they are hopeful to have that poured as soon as weather allows.
