Opal Slusher Whitt age 99 of New Lebanon, Ohio formerly of Magoffin County, Kentucky passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024 at her home. She was born January 20, 1925 at Lick Creek in Salyersville, Kentucky to the late William and Annelize Phipps Slusher.
Survived by one son, Phillip Whitt of Johnson City, Tennessee, five daughters, Judy Carol Whitt Jones of Cincinnati, Ohio, Rhoda Fister of Dayton, Ohio, Emma Sue Hayes of Dayton, Ohio, Bonnie Whitt Dyer of Salyersville, Kentucky, Pauline Francis Thomas of Dayton, Ohio, eight grandchildren, Greg Sturgill, Jeri Martina Dickie, Lisa Marie Otto, Jonathan Evan Dyer, Shawn Whitt, Kari Nicole Jones, Jessica Michael Monnin, Ashley Whitt, and fifteen great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Opal is preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Whitt, one son, Kenny Whitt, one daughter, Joyce Ann Sturgill, five brothers, Shafter Slusher, Sherman Slusher, Smith Slusher, Sammie Slusher, Shay Slusher, one sister, Emily Robertson, with several infant brothers, and sisters, three grandchildren, David Bryant May, Gymma Denise Dyer, and Lori Sue Adams.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, October 14, 2024 from the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with J. R. Owens and Hershel Sturgill officiating. Burial followed in the Whitt Family Cemetery at Lick Creek Road, Salyersville, Kentucky.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
