Phyllis (Joanne) Stephens age 90 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at her home. She was born August 09, 1935 in Magoffin County Kentucky to the late Clay and Golda Holbrook Prater.
Survived by two sons, Lawrence Douglas “Doug” Stephens, Bobby Dean Stephens both of Royalton Road, Salyersville, Kentucky, three daughters, Connie Jo (Randell) Howington, Nada Kathleen “Kathy” (Ronnie) Montgomery both of Salyersville, Kentucky, Jenny Rae (Michael) Mohon of Ovilla, Texas, two sisters, Jerry Coney of Salyersville, Kentucky, Bill Caudill of Gallipolis, Ohio, eight grandchildren, Mellanie Hicks, Amber Stephens, Nathaniel Stephens, Megan Maynard, Nadia “Deann” Russell, Boishea Rae Osborn, Cassandra Lykins, Farrah Montgomery, special grandson, Tyler Shepherd, several great grandchildren, and a special neighbor, Willie Wallen.
In addition to her parents, Joanne is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Stephens, one son, Fredrick Clay “Freddy” Stephens, one grandson, Joseph “Sterling” Radulovich, two brothers, H.C. Prater, Robert Hamilton, two sisters, Ada “Katie” Prater, and Mary Emma “Sittie” Connelley.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, March 24, 2026 from the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with Jack Howard officiating. Burial followed in the Dean Joseph Cemetery at Royalton Road, Kentucky.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
