Storage rental theft investigation leads to arrests

FLOYD COUNTY – Three people were arrested in Floyd County in relation to a theft investigation involving local storage units.

Local residents turned over to police video of their storage unit being burglarized over the weekend, leading to a multi-county investigation.

In surveillance footage two men in a white pickup truck can be seen going from storage unit to storage, helping themselves to thousands of dollars’ worth of stolen items. The truck’s description quickly made its way to one of the local victims, who turned the information over to authorities, which led law enforcement to Floyd County on Monday.

Once at the residence, police found two men, one still wearing the same clothing as in the video, and a female, and a number of the stolen items.

Mark Moore, 45 years old, was arrested and taken to the Floyd County Detention Center, where he has since been released, pending future court dates. He is currently facing the charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense, heroin; first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense, methamphetamine; and receiving stolen property. He is scheduled to be arraigned on the Floyd County charges on September 29.

Mortimer Media Group was told the other male and female were also arrested, though no names have been officially released.

The Magoffin County Sheriff Department is also in the process of obtaining arrest warrants or charges in Magoffin County courts, as well.
