Terry Lee Oney, age 85, a resident of Johnson Fork Road in Salyersville, Kentucky; passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at his home.
Terry was born January 17, 1940, in Salyersville, Kentucky the son of the late Bill Joe and Tressie Lovely Oney. Son, Ricky Oney, also preceded in death.
Terry served his Country proudly in the United States Army until being honorably discharged. He returned stateside and served as a deputy sheriff in Magoffin County and as a Union Pipe-fitter until his retirement. He is a graduate of Salyersville High School and Department of Criminal Justice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He also assisted with the Magoffin County Rescue Squad.
Those left to mourn includes his wife, Minnie Lavonda Lewis Oney, whom he married on June 22, 1962, daughter, Teresa Williams and husband Richard of West Liberty, Kentucky, son, Terry Joe Oney of Salyersville, Kentucky, brother, Gary Dale Oney of Salyersville, Kentucky, grandchildren, Jonathan Williams of West Liberty, Kentucky, Kayla Williams of West Liberty, Kentucky, Kasey Creech of Hazel Green, Kentucky, great grandchildren, Skyler Quenn Banks, Kaylea Rae Creech, Teddy Kase Creech, two beloved dogs, Bainie and Marley, a host of family and friends who love and miss him.
Funeral services for Terry Lee Oney were conducted Saturday, May 24, 2025 from the chapel of the Salyersville Funeral Home in Salyersville, Kentucky. Clergy Richard Williams and Jonathan Williams delivered comforting words on the day of service. Interment followed in the Patrick and Lovely Cemetery on Johnson Fork in Salyersville, Kentucky.
Military Rites were given by the Magoffin Country Chapter DAV on the day of services.
