Valerie Devaun Wheeler Jordan

Valerie Devaun Wheeler Jordan, 59, of Morehead, Kentucky passed peacefully, Friday, September 30th, 2022; in Cozumel, Mexico.

“Val” was born July 29, 1963, in Paintsville, Kentucky, the daughter of Lowell and Concheata Wheeler. She attended Magoffin County High School and Mayo Technical College. Val would go on to work many years in the service industry, from Busch Gardens Florida to the Morehead Kentucky Kroger for nearly 10 years and the Department of Defense Commissaries for 14 years. Val lived her life full of laughter, love, and joy; never knowing a stranger or missing a chance to make someone smile. She was famously known as the “Singing Cashier” and was always giving a big radiant smile. Throughout her life, she was a devoted fan of the UK Wildcats basketball team and traveled extensively as a U.S. Air Force wife and enjoyed many cruises to the Tropics. Her proudest moments were upon meeting new friends and telling them about her “12-pound babies”.

Val is preceded in death by her father, Lowell Wheeler, and Niece, Natasha Barat. Val is survived by her loving husband Chris Jordan, Olive Hill, Kentucky, of 24 years, who will miss her deeply; son, Tristan Jordan, Lexington, Kentucky; daughter, Loren Jordan and Ryan Simpson, Frankfort, Kentucky; and Grandson, Eliott Simpson, who is her pride and joy; her mother, Concheata Wheeler, Salyersville, Kentucky; two sisters, Gwendolyn Wheeler and Oscar Barat, Lecanto Florida; Toni Wheeler, Morehead, Kentucky; two brothers, David and Becky Wheeler, Salyersville, Kentucky; Jamie and Lisa Wheeler, Blaine, Kentucky and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Services will be held on Saturday, October 8th, 2022, at 1PM. at Flat Fork Free Will Baptist Church in Salyersville, Kentucky and on Sunday, October 9th, 2022, at 2PM at the Psimer Cemetery, on Psimer Road, Olive Hill, Kentucky.
