Vanessa Gardner Slone, age 48, a resident of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, formally of Salyersville; passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
Vanessa was born June 4, 1975 at Paintsville Hospital in Paintsville, Kentucky the daughter of Clayton and Pauline Crum Gardner.
Vanessa is a graduate of Morehead State University where she obtained her Masters. She was employed as a teacher at the John M. Stumbo Elementary School in Grethel, Kentucky. She was so proud to be a member of the Mustang staff and to teach the youth of Floyd County.
Those left to mourn includes her parents, Clayton and Pauline Gardner of Salyersville, Kentucky, husband, Malcom Slone of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, stepsons, Malcom Dwayne Slone of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Chad Slone and wife Michelle of Paitnsville, Kentucky, Jason Slone and wife Courtney of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, sister, Angela Burchett and husband James of Salyersville, Kentucky, nephew, Landen Brickey of Salyersville, Kentucky, niece, Delana Lorae Brickey of Morehead, Kentucky, a host of family and friends who love and miss mer.
Funeral services for Vanessa Gardner Slone were conducted Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from the chapel of the Salyersville Funeral Home in Salyersville, Kentucky. Clergy Gary Ferguson and Bud Crum delivered comforting words on the day of service. Interment followed in the Clayton Gardner Cemetery on Lick Branch in Salyersville, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made to the Vanessa Gardner Slone Memorial Fund at the John M. Stumbo Elementary School for school activities and the children.
