Virgil Preston Shepherd age 77 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky. He was born May 14, 1943 in Magoffin County to the late Homer and Beatrice Allen Shepherd.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Williams Shepherd, two sons, Mark (Kari) Shepherd of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Alan (Jodi) Shepherd of Salyersville, Kentucky, one daughter, Marsha Litteral of Martin, Kentucky, four brothers, R.B. Shepherd of Michigan, Bill Shepherd of Salyersville, Kentucky, Robert Shepherd of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Johnny Shepherd of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, three sisters, Darcus Shepherd of Gunlock, Kentucky, Debbie Thompson of Prestonsburg, Kentucky Elisha Hylton of Waldo, Kentucky, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Virgil is preceded in death by one daughter, Christy Collins, three brothers, Paul Garver Shepherd, Homer Shepherd, Jr., Ricky Darrell Shepherd, two sisters, Janice Fay Fitzpatrick, Carol Jean Shepherd, and one grandson, Preston Scott Shepherd.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 10, 2021 from the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with Greg Minix and Neil Carty officiating. Burial followed in the Bal Whitt Cemetery at Royalton, Kentucky
Church services were held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 09, 2021 at the funeral home chapel.
Military Rites were given by the Salyersville D.A.V. Chapter 15 the day of service.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
