Royalton Community Council hosted the seventh-annual Walnut Festival, September 20, 2025.
The Salyersville DAV, including Magoffin County Judge/Executive Matthew Wireman, kicked off the opening ceremonies at 11:30 a.m. With Brooklyn Shepherd singing the National Anthem. Miss Magoffin County Erin Grace Rudd and her friend entertained the crowd while waiting to kick off the bands. Also, Erin was the emcee for the program.
The festival hosted vendors, food trucks, children’s games, kiddie train ride, music, and a car show.
The outstanding music began at 12:45p.m., with the last set at 7 p.m. The bands included Hillbilly Tradition, The Tommy Webb Band, Ethan Allen, Whittney Lovely, Eddie Jenkins and the 606 Sound, and Troy Carlos.
The council presented a tribute to Tommy Whitaker. Receiving his plaque was his wife, Neil, and his son, Mike.
Winners of the raffle items were Rodney Shepherd and Lynn Fletcher. Winners of the door prizes were Bill Patrick and Mike Fletcher.
