PIKEVILLE – A Johnson County woman who previously had been picked up by U.S. Marshals in Magoffin County was sentenced this week in federal court on a possession with the intent to distribute a methamphetamine mixture charge.
Tiffany N. Blanton, 34, of Oil Springs, was picked up in Magoffin County on January 8, by U.S. Marshals, and taken to the Pike County Detention Center.
According to the indictment, issued in November 2024, on or about August 3, 2024, in Johnson County, Blanton allegedly distributed a mixture or a substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance.
The indictment included a forfeiture allegation, requiring her to forfeit all property related to the felony offense, including $1,104 in U.S. currency.
The charge held a possible penalty of not more than 20 years imprisonment, not more than a $1 million fine, and at least 3 years supervised release.
In March this year Blanton signed a plea agreement, admitting that on or about August 3, 2024, in Johnson County, law enforcement encountered her when she was in the driver’s seat of a vehicle and was sitting on a black backpack. During a search of the vehicle, police found the backpack and located her license and a large quantity of methamphetamine. A total of 86.86 grams of actual methamphetamine was located in the vehicle and seized by law enforcement and by signing the agreement, Blanton admitted to possessing the quantity of meth for the purpose of distributing it.
She was rearraigned in April, changing her plea to guilty for the charge, and on July 28 she was sentenced before Judge Karen K. Caldwell in Pikeville federal court to 58 months in prison, three years supervised release, and $100 special assessment.
She remains in custody by U.S. Marshals at the Woodford County Detention Center at press time.
