Every offseason we find ourselves discussing what we’d like to do, and where we’d like to race the upcoming year. Several times we’ve talked about campaigning for an NMCA or NMRA Championship, but we’ve never been able to pursue that goal. Whether its been a scheduling conflict, or not having the car ready for the season opener, there has always been some sort of obstacle blocking our path. This year, the stars aligned and it looked like we could make the season opener in Florida.
We made the haul to NMCA Orlando in March, and had an incredible weekend. Went #1 qualifier, and made it to the finals where we picked up the event win, and set the class record in the process. Picking up that win gave our team a shot of momentum, and some much needed funding to continue running the series.
From Florida, we traveled to Rockingham, St. Louis, Martin, Norwalk and finished the season in Indianapolis. Over the six race series we made it to the finals 5 times, collecting three wins, and two runner up finishes. We tallied 3715 Championship Points on the season, finishing 1060 points ahead of second place.
An incredibly successful season on paper aside, some of the best memories were made on the road traveling with our buddies, hanging out in the pits, and going out to eat at night. It’s been arguably the most fun year that we’ve ever had racing.
We’ve said several times this year that doing this takes an Army, and man, we’ve got quite an Army riding with us into battle.
We will be heading out this weekend to Bowling Green, KY for the final race of NMRA.
