SALYERSVILLE – Magoffin County is set to open the 2020-21 boys’ high school basketball season with back-to-back-to-back games on the road.
Three familiar foes await Magoffin County in the first week of the 2020-21 boys’ high school basketball season.
The Hornets concluded the 2019-20 boys’ high school basketball season 15-15. Magoffin County lost to longtime rival Martin County in the 2019-20 57th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament Semifinals.
The Hornets are scheduled to visit Pike County Central for a season opener on Tuesday, Jan. 5. Pike County Central, following a loss to Belfry in the 60th District Semifinals, ended the 2019-20 boys’ high school basketball season 8-21.
The Hornets are slated to visit border rival Morgan County on Thursday, Jan. 7. Morgan County lost to West Carter in the 62nd District Boys’ Basketball Tournament Semifinals and ended the 2019-20 season 9-18.
Magoffin County is due to visit Jenkins for its third game in the first week of the 2020-21 boys’ high school basketball season on Saturday, Jan. 9. After suffering a loss to Shelby Valley in the 59th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament Semifinals, Jenkins exited the 2019-20 season 1-23.
The Hornets resumed preseason practice earlier in the month.
