Litteral, Hornets shut out Floyd Central, 2-0

SALYERSVILLE – Senior Lucas Litteral pitched a three-hit shutout to lead Magoffin County over visiting Floyd Central 2-0 in a high school baseball game on Thursday, April 22.

Magoffin County scored one run in the bottom half of the third inning to move ahead during the matchup against 15th Region rival Floyd Central.

Extending its lead, Magoffin County plated another run in the bottom half of the fifth inning to take a 2-0 lead over the visiting team from neighboring Floyd Central.

Litteral earned the win on the mound for the Hornets. Pitching a complete game, Litteral allowed only three hits and zero runs while recording 12 strikeouts. He threw 89 pitches.

Jacob Bentley took the loss on the mound for Floyd Central. Bentley pitched six innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out seven and walking one.

Helping his pitching cause at the plate, Litteral led Magoffin County offensively. Litteral finished 3-for-3 in the Hornets’ victory.

Trenton Coleman followed Litteral’s leading offensive performance, finishing 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Chipping in offensively, Caleb Wilson accounted for Magoffin County’s other hit.

Both Coleman and Colin Litteral scored a run for the Hornets.

Magoffin County defeated Floyd Central for the second time in the 2021 high school baseball season.
