BETSY LAYNE – Visiting Magoffin County upended Betsy Layne 14-9 in a high school baseball game on Monday, May 3.
Longtime rivals, Magoffin County and Betsy Layne hail from neighboring districts. The Hornets and Bobcats met for the second time in the 2021 high school baseball season. In an early-season game on April 12, Magoffin County beat Betsy Layne 10-1.
Magoffin County claimed its second straight win.
After notching the win, Magoffin County (57th District) improved to 9-7.
Betsy Layne (58th District) dropped to 0-11 following the loss.
Providing a lift at the plate for the Hornets, Trenton Coleman hit a two-run home run over the left field fence.
Colin Litteral started on the mound for Magoffin County.

The Hornets were set to visit Martin County for a 57th District baseball game on Wednesday, May 5.
