SALYERSVILLE – Magoffin County freshman Curtis Jenkins made a huge impact during his debut season, recording a team-high 112 tackles for the Hornets.
One of the top tacklers in Class 3A, Jenkins averaged 12.4 tackles per game for the Hornets. Jenkins logged 18 solo tackles, 94 assisted tackles, eight tackles for a loss and five sacks in nine games.
Jenkins will be carrying momentum back to the gridiron for his sophomore season in 2022.
Ranking as Magoffin County’s second-leading tackler, Brayden Standifer recorded 74 tackles.
Standifer tallied 21 solo tackles, 53 assisted tackles, 14 tackles for a loss and three sacks.
Behind Standifer, Ian McCarty made 68 tackles for the Hornets.
Following McCarty, Kajun Williams delivered 64 tackles, which included seven tackles for a loss and five sacks.
Carrying momentum over from the 2020 high school football season, Ben Lafferty provided 59 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, eight sacks and two interceptions for the Hornets. Lafferty led Magoffin County in sacks and interceptions in the 2021 high school football season.
As a team, Magoffin County recorded seven interceptions. Following Lafferty, Lucas Litteral, Colin Litteral, Grayson Whitaker, Matthew Sparks and Aden Barnett registered one interception apiece for the Hornets.
Magoffin County held a pair of opponents to 14 points or less during the 2021 high school football season.
