SALYERSVILLE – After being off the air for quite some time, WRLV is back on the air.
On Friday, January 14, Randy Thompson, the owner and operator of WKCB in Knott County, announced that WKCB has assumed management of 106.5 WRLV in Salyersville, 103.7 WCBJ in Campton and 102.9 WLKS in West Liberty. He said for the next few weeks, the regular WKCB programming will be played on those stations, with hopes of each station to soon have its own individual format offering service to its local community.
Thompson told the Independent they are operating under a management agreement at this time, but hopes to be able to provide the community the “service it deserves,” noting the ultimate decision remains with the Federal Communications Commission.
While maybe just a small step right now, the Magoffin County basketball game was on the air on Saturday.
As this is an ongoing matter, still undecided by the FCC, the Independent will provide updates as they are released. Until then, be sure to tune into 106.5, again, and check out the type of music and content WKCB hopes to continue to bring to Magoffin County airwaves.
