FALCON – A water line break at the pump station on KY Rt. 40 knocked out many city and county water customers this week, as crews worked through the night to get it back up and running.
On Sunday night, Salyersville Water Works reported that crews found a main line break at their pump station, located across from the Falcon Post Office, requiring some extensive work to access the line. Crews worked through the night, jackhammering through concrete and making repairs to the damaged 6” water main line, finally fixing it after working 20 hours straight.
Just after midnight (Monday night/Tuesday morning), the line broke, again, and Magoffin Count Water District employees were dispatched to the area and repaired the leak by around 7 a.m. on Tuesday, filling in since the SWW crew had already been out over 20 hours and the broken line also affected county water customers in the Falcon area.
As of press time, a boil water advisory remains in effect from the mouth of White Lick to the county line on KY Rt. 40.
If any residents along Rt. 40 are still experiencing low water pressure, SWW posted on social media that they will be flushing the lines to help with water discoloration from the recent break.
If customers are still experiencing no water or have any other questions about the break, they are encouraged to call the Salyersville Water Works office number at 606-349-3743.
