HINDMAN — Magoffin County was unable to return to the win column on the road as Knott County Central prevailed 7-4 in a high school baseball game on Monday, March 28.
Connor Napier claimed the win on the mound for the Patriots. Napier pitched five innings, allowing two runs on three hits and four walks while recording six strikeouts.
Mason Amburgey pitched two innings in relief for the Patriots. Amburgey recorded the last six outs to earn the save.
Lucas Litteral took the pitching loss for the Hornets. Litteral allowed five runs on two hits and four walks while recording 12 strikeouts over five innings.
Luke Sorrells led Knott County Central at the plate, delivering two hits in three at-bats. Behind Sorrells, Kizer Turner, Mason Amburgey and Brady Sandlin added one hit apiece for the Patriots.
Ethan Salyer went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Magoffin County’s offensive effort. In addition to Salyer, Ian McCarty and Jamison Allen added one hit apiece for the Hornets. Contributing at the plate for Magoffin County, Shawn Salyer drove in one run.
The Hornets and Patriots combined to commit seven errors. Knott County Central overcame four errors to register the win.
Magoffin County is scheduled to host Knott County Central on Monday, April 18.
