THREE ARRESTS IN BURGLARY CASE

SALYERSVILLE – Three men were arrested last week in relation to a reported burglary in Magoffin, with one juvenile also questioned.

Neil Adams with the Salyersville Police Department arrested the three last Thursday after conducting an investigation of a burglary at a Salyersville residence that occurred on April 19.

Adams told Mortimer Media Group he responded to a report that the old Belsey Connelley residence had been broken, with several items and damage to the property reported.

Antique stoves and collectibles were stolen, all easily identifiable as being from Belsey Connelley’s, with even Belsey’s name on many of the items.

Family told police there were several other items stacked up as if someone was planning to come back to pick up those items later.

Adams obtained surveillance footage at a nearby structure and verify the truck used during the alleged crime belonged to one of the three men involved.

Jason Holbrook, 37 years old, the owner of the truck, Clarence Wayne Gipson, 48, and Michael W. Slone, 33, all of Salyersville, were all arrested at the trailer court on Cheyenne, just down the street from the residence. The three were taken to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, where they are currently being held at press time, all charged with second-degree burglary. A juvenile was also questioned in the case, though no other charges were reported.

Editor’s Note: The indictment or charge of a person by a grand jury or otherwise is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
