SALYERSVILLE — Returning to the win column, Magoffin County, behind a strong pitching performance from senior Lucas Litteral, beat visiting Bluegrass United 8-5 in a high school baseball game on Friday, April 29.
The win allowed Magoffin County to halt a four-game losing skid.
Among the top high school baseball players in the 15th Region, Litteral limited Bluegrass United batters throughout the game.
Litteral, who has committed to Rend Lake College, pitched a complete game and earned the win on the mound. The Magoffin County starting pitcher allowed five runs on three hits and two walks. Litteral recorded 17 strikeouts.
Magoffin County plated eight runs on only four hits. Colin Litteral, Shawn Salyer, Caleb Wilson and Ian McCarty delivered one hit apiece for the Hornets. Wilson drove in one run for Magoffin County in the victory.
The Hornets, under the direction of head coach Jacob Litteral, bounced back to win after dropping a two-game 57th District series to rival Paintsville.
Magoffin County met Bluegrass United for the first time.
