SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County is preparing to visit Clay County for a non-district game on Friday, Oct. 21.
A member of Class 3A, District 8, Magoffin County is 3-5. The Hornets have claimed wins over Knott County Central, Bellevue and Floyd Central.
Magoffin County has dropped games to Breathitt County, Prestonsburg, Lawrence County, Belfry and Pike County Central.
Opponents have outscored the Hornets 227-220. However, Magoffin County has shown improvement in the second half of the 2022 high school football season.

A member of Class 4A, District 8, Clay County is 5-4. The Tigers have registered wins over Leslie County, Lynn Camp, Pike County Central, Harlan County and Perry County Central. Clay County has dropped games to Knox Central, Johnson Central and Letcher County Central.
The Tigers have outscored opponents 265-228.

Clay County doubled up the Hornets 24-12 in 2021.
Magoffin County has regular season games remaining versus Clay County and Morgan County. The Hornets are scheduled to visit rival Morgan County for a regular season finale on Friday, Oct. 28.
Kickoff for the upcoming Magoffin County-Clay County game is set for 7:30 p.m. in Manchester.
