SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County is among the returning high school football teams in Class 3A.
The Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) finalized its alignment for the 2023 and 2024 football seasons at the start of the year.
Realignment did not put Magoffin County on the move. Magoffin County remains in Class 3A, District 8. Magoffin County, Belfry, Estill County, Lawrence County and Powell County will comprise Class 3A, District 8 for the next two high school football seasons.
Reigning state champion Christian Academy-Louisville is among the other teams back in Class 3A. The Centurions blanked Bardstown 38-0 in the 2022 Class 3A state title game to cap off a perfect regular season. After capturing a state title and finishing 15-0, Christian Academy Louisville will compete in Class 3A, District 3. Previously, Christian Academy-Louisville competed in Class 3A, District 4.
Magoffin County is scheduled to kick off the 2023 season at Montgomery County in the Recreation Bowl on Saturday, Aug. 19.

Class 3A High School Football Alignment
District 1 – Hancock County, Hopkins County Central, McLean County, Trigg County, Union County, Webster County.
District 2 – Adair County, Butler County, Franklin-Simpson, Glasgow, Hart County.
District 3 – Central, Christian Academy-Louisville, Elizabethtown, LaRue County.
District 4 – Casey County, Garrard County, Marion County, Mercer County.
District 5 – Bourbon County, Lexington Catholic, Lloyd Memorial, Pendleton County.
District 6 – Bath County, East Carter, Fleming County, Lewis County, Russell, West Carter.
District 7 – Bell County, Clay County, Knox Central, McCreary Central, Rockcastle County.
District 8 – Belfry, Estill County, Lawrence County, Magoffin County, Powell County.
