Magoffin County Judge/Executive Matthew Wireman posted the following notice on social media on Wednesday, announcing a burn ban for the county until the end of fire season:
As Magoffin County Judge/Executive, I, have issued an immediate ban on all open burning throughout Magoffin County due to current and predicted weather conditions that present an extraordinary danger of forest fires. This action is taken under the authority of KRS 149.401 to protect the health, safety, and property of our citizens.
All outdoor burning is prohibited. This ban will remain in effect until the end of fire season, (April 30, 2025) or until lifted or modified by my office.
