BIRCH BRANCH – A Magoffin County woman passed away Sunday after sustaining injuries from a very unfortunate accident.

According to the Magoffin County Sheriff Department, on July 16, Martha Conley, age 76 of Salyersville, arrived at her home on Birch Branch, located off of Burning Fork, and pulled into the driveway. She exited the vehicle, but the car had not been put in park. Reportedly, the driver’s side door caught her and threw her to the ground, and she was then run over by the vehicle.

Conley was taken to the Subway landing zone, on Restaurant Row, and flown to St. Mary’s Hospital, in Huntington, West Virginia, where she was pronounced deceased later that same day.

Conley is survived by her husband, Ray Conley, and two daughters, one brother, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. today at the Elk Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Her full obituary can be found on page A4 of this week’s SI.
