Alene Shepherd Allen age 84 of Old Burning Fork Road, Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 at the Compassionate Care Center Hospice, Richmond, Kentucky. She was born July 14, 1936 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, to the late Willie Shepherd and Sallie Wallen Shepherd.
In addition to her parents, Alene is preceded in death by her husband, Darvin Allen, four brothers, Ralph Shepherd, Tommy Shepherd, Earl Shepherd, Bill Shepherd, five sisters, Oma Risner, Thelma Vanderpool, Daisy Holliday, Virginia Holliday, and Flora Sue Rudd.
Alene is survived by one son, Gregory (Deborah) of Salyersville, Kentucky, one daughter, Jennifer (Kevin) Howard, of Salyersville, Kentucky, and one sister, Alma Holiday of Lexington, Kentucky. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Leslie Paige Allen Devers, of Richmond, Kentucky, and Brad Alan Howard of Paintsville, Kentucky, and four great grandchildren, Claire Devers, Cam Devers, Ellie Devers, and Brooke Howard.
Alene was a retired educator, teacher, and librarian in the Magoffin County School System for 33 years, and a member of the Licking River Baptist Church.
Private family graveside services and burial were conducted Wednesday, April 07, 2021 at 1:00 P.M., from the Allen-Rudd Cemetery at Royalton, Kentucky, with Pastor Darrell Back officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked to make contributions to the Licking River Baptist Church or Compassionate Care Center Hospice in Richmond, Kentucky.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
