SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County senior lineman Gavin Arnett has received an offer from the Union Commonwealth University football program.
Arnett contributed both offensively and defensively for the Hornets. Offensively, Arnett helped block for a Magoffin County unit which gained 2,861 yards and scored 33 touchdowns in the 2025 high school football season. During its latest campaign, Magoffin County rushed 368 times for 2,061 yards and 25 touchdowns.
As a senior, Arnett was among Magoffin County’s leaders. Arnett played multiple positions along Magoffin County’s offensive line during his high school football career.
“Gavin has earned himself a place at the next level,” said Magoffin County Coach John DeRossett. “He has been through a few injuries that might have forced some to give up. Each time, he gets up and works his way right back into a position to be successful. He is a really good offensive lineman but an even better guy to have in your locker room leading your team. He is a Governor’s Scholar and of the highest character. I am sure he will help any team he chooses to play for at the next level. He will also be successful in the classroom. Our guys who get opportunities at the next level come to every offseason workout and never miss practice or an opportunity to get better. Gavin checks all these boxes.”
Arnett, a standout student-athlete, continues to draw recruiting interest from additional college football programs.
