COW CREEK – A Magoffin man was charged after police found him around a stolen vehicle.

According to the arrest citation, Magoffin County Sheriff Department Officer Salyer received a call on Saturday, April 10, reporting a stolen vehicle. Police found the vehicle later that day in a field on Alsept Road, off Cow Creek, with Robert E. Salyer, 40, of Horsepen Road, in Falcon, near the stolen vehicle.

Reportedly, Salyer also admitted to police he had smoked methamphetamine earlier that same day.

Salyer was taken to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, where he remains at press time, charged with receiving stolen property (over $500 but less than $10,000) and public intoxication.

A preliminary hearing in his felony case is slated for April 19 at the Magoffin County Justice Center.
