SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County softball standout Abby Barnett is among the top rising seniors in the state.
Earlier in the month, Barnett was named to the East Junior All-Stars.
The Kentucky Softball Coaches Association selected Barnett for the team.
Barnett entered the week set to compete in the 2025 Kentucky Prep Softball East/West All-Star Series in Bowling Green June 20-22.
As a junior, Barnett excelled for Magoffin County throughout the 2025 high school softball season. Highly productive for former 15th Region softball champion Magoffin County, Barnett batted .436 with 28 runs, 34 hits, 27 RBIs, 9 doubles, 5 home runs and 14 stolen bases during her junior campaign.
Prior to competing in softball for Magoffin County, Barnett excelled on the court. Barnett led Magoffin County in both scoring and rebounding during the 2024-25 girls’ high school basketball season. In her junior campaign for the Magoffin County girls’ basketball team, Barnett averaged a team-high 11.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
