PIKEVILLE — Magoffin County senior guard Aden Barnett was named the 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Tournament MVP.
Barnett, who was named the 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year earlier in the season, led Magoffin County throughout the tournament. The Magoffin County senior guard scored 100 points in three region tournament games.
One of the top high school student-athletes in the state, Barnett is a longtime leader for the Hornets.
Barnett poured in 35 points and cleared out eight rebounds to lead Magoffin County over 58th District title winner Floyd Central in the quarterfinals of the 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Tournament.
Continuing to excel in a matchup versus Johnson Central in the semifinals of the 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Tournament, Barnett scored 31 points and claimed four rebounds.
Barnett scored 34 points to lead Magoffin County over Martin County in the 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Tournament title game.
The leading scorer in Magoffin County’s history, Barnett is among the state’s best boys’ high school basketball players.
