SALYERSVILLE – Sophomore athlete Aden Barnett produced for Magoffin County throughout the 2020 high school football season, showing his athleticism on the gridiron.
One of the state’s top football athletes in the Class of 2023, Barnett led Magoffin County in receiving while exiting the latest prep gridiron campaign as the Hornets’ third-leading rusher. The standout scored a team-high 92 points for the Hornets. The Magoffin County sophomore averaged 13.1 points per game.
Barnett hauled in 27 receptions for 515 yards and eight touchdowns.
Delivering on the ground for the Hornets, Barnett rushed 20 times for 127 yards and three touchdowns.
The versatile Barnett completed two of four passes for 42 yards.
Barnett contributed offensively, defensively and via special teams.
The sophomore athlete led the Hornets in interceptions, picking off three passes. In addition to his three interceptions, Barnett recorded 19 tackles.
Excelling on special teams, Barnett returned three kickoffs for touchdowns.
Barnett helped to lead Magoffin County on the gridiron as a sophomore and will carry momentum over into another season.
Following the conclusion of the football season, Barnett is preparing to compete on the hardwood as a member of the Magoffin County boys’ basketball team. Barnett will enter the 2021 high school football season as one of the top players in Class 3A.
