Carson Ray Montgomery

Carson Ray Montgomery age 68, retired Magoffin County Sheriff passed away Thursday, January 11th, 2024 at his home on River Road, Kentucky. He was born March 3, 1955 in the old home place located at Middle Fork, to the late Millard “Bill” Montgomery, and Blanche Montgomery.

Survivors include his wife Matilda Trusty-Montgomery, one daughter, Lisa Montgomery-Cheek of River Road, Kentucky. He is also survived by one Grandson Jamison “Tristen” Cheek. Also left to mourn, is an honorary son Michael Perkins of Salyersville, Kentucky, and two honorary grandsons, Braxton of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and Triton Perkins of Salyersville, Kentucky. One brother, Robert (Becky) Montgomery of Middle Fork, and one sister, Bethel (Paul) Carnes of Sidney, Ohio and one brother-in-law, Ed Crowder of Dayton, Ohio, also survive. Also, a special niece, Stacy (Steve) Minix, of Bear Branch, Kentucky, two special nephews, Gary Don Trusty of River Road, and Cory (Rhonda) Adams of Morehead, Kentucky.

In addition to his to his parents, Carson is preceded in death by two brothers, LB Montgomery, Dennis Montgomery, and three sisters, Betty Arnett, Ella Sullivan, Ann Crowder, a son-in-law, James “Jamie” Cheek, and sister-in-laws, Penny Sue Adams-Trusty, Betty Dilts-Montgomery, and Brenda Cole-Montgomery.

A graveside service was conducted Tuesday, January 16, 2024 in the Montgomery Family Cemetery on the family farm on River Road, Salyersville, Kentucky. Robert May officiated.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
